When the dust had settled from qualifying Dean Oberg driving the Bada Bing Bada Bang
Dodge Daytona had picked up the Cogswell Marine and Motorsports Revolving Qualifier
bonus.
Eliminations started with Jim Carter and Chill Scardino separated by less than one
round difference in the points standings. Scardino stretched his points lead slightly by
qualifying number 1 however broke out in his first round match up against Dan
Whiteman when he ran a too quick 7.42 to Whiteman's 10.98. Whiteman popped the
burst panel on the run and would not be able to return in the second round. The door
was now open for Carter to take over the points lead if he could win. Carter who
qualified # 8 ran Glenn Tucker in the first round and took the win with a 7.57 to Tucker's
too quick 7.40. CIFCA new comer Cory Green driving Don Seale's Battle Born Camaro
qualified # 2 and got his first round win when he defeated Mike Irwin. Irwin however
capitalize on Whiteman's mis fortune and return as the quick loser in the second
round. Paul Peterson who came into the race 3rd in points faced Jamie Leppanen in
the opening round. Peterson went .018 on the tree coupled with a 7.55 to defeat
Leppanen and pick up both the Good Vibrations best package award as well as the
Enderle Quick Reaction Award. Charles Ware, Dean Oberg, and Mike Halstead also
advanced into the second round.

The second round pitted quick loser Mike Irwin returning to face Paul Peterson. Irwin
got the holeshot at the tree and took out Peterson with a 7.54 to Peterson's quicker
7.53. Charles Ware got a single when Mike Halstead had a problem after the burnout
and had to shut off. Ware ran an impressive 7.51 on his single. Cory Green faced Tony
Doca in the Discount Tire Firebird. Doca got the Holeshot early and ended Green's debut
when Doca ran a 7.51 to Green's 7.48. New Points leader Jim Carter faced Dean Oberg
in the second round and beat Oberg with a 7.60 to Oberg's quicker but losing 7.53.

Charles Ware was unable to return for the Semi's so Paul Peterson was reinstated on
the CIFCA break rule. In a ironic turn of events Peterson would re run Mike Irwin in the
Semi's. As both cars pulled up to the staging beams, Irwin was in both beams and
Peterson was not in with the front tires. The tree was activated and Peterson was
DQ'ed. After consulting with the race director a shop towel was discover dangling from
the bottom of the fire bottle which caused the beam to trip before the car was staged.
Irwin was in the final. His opponent would be the winner of Jim Carter and Tony Doca.
Doca took out Carte with a 7.53 to Carter's slower 7.60.

The finals pitted a California vs. Arizona Battle.  At the hit Irwin got the Holeshot with a
.045 light and ran a 7.52 to beat Doca too quick 7.499. Irwin Scored his first ever CIFCA
win an made a huge jump up in the fight for the 2006 CIFCA championship.

The battle will continue in 4 weeks at Speedworld Raceway park in Phoenix, Az.
